A Christmas Reflection on Light, Purpose, and Hope

A Christmas Reflection on Light, Purpose, and Hope

Merry Christmas.

When this message is released, it will be Christmas Eve. And this season – Christmas in particular – is a beautiful time of year to slow down, reflect, and think a little differently about our lives, our families, and the communities we’re part of.

Whether or not you celebrate Christmas specifically, I want to extend a sincere Merry Christmas to you. This season is dear to my heart. It’s deeply connected to my faith, and it’s meaningful to me in a very personal way.

Today, I want to share something a little more personal with you.

A Life Oriented Around Light

A central theme in my work – and really in how I try to live my life – is the idea of light.

In my office, right behind me, I keep a document with my personal purpose statement. I want to read it exactly as it’s written:

“My purpose is to grow my light so that I can be a light in the world to help others see their value and limitless potential.”

That statement guides everything I do.

When I coach. When I teach. When I speak, train, or lead retreats.

At its core, my work is about helping grow the amount of light in the world, helping people see who they truly are and what they’re capable of becoming.

A few years ago, after this theme of light became clear to me, my wife gave me a beautiful lighthouse that I keep in my office. It’s a daily reminder of the role I’m trying to play: To help guide, illuminate, and support others through whatever season they’re navigating.

The Source of That Light

For me, it’s impossible to talk about light without talking about Jesus Christ.

Scripture teaches that He is the Light of the World. Any light I carry – any love, clarity, or purpose I’m able to share – comes from Him.

Behind me sits a nativity scene, a reminder of His birth, His life, His sacrifice, and what He means to me personally.

This season is about giving and receiving. It’s about gratitude. It’s about love, humility, and hope.

And my sincere hope is that, during this Christmas season, you can feel even a small measure of His light and His love in your own life – whatever that looks like for you.

A Simple Christmas Wish

As we close out this year and look ahead to what’s next, my wish for you is simple:

May you feel seen. May you feel valued. May you be reminded of your limitless potential. And may you carry light into your family, your work, and your corner of the world.

Thank you so much for being here.

Merry Christmas!
