“Your actions and approach with what you have will showcase to others what you would be able to do with more” ~ Loren Weisman
Evidence is anything that you see, experience, read, or are told that causes you to believe that something is true or has really happened (collinsdictionary.com).
This is one thing that is crucial for job seekers. That is – to build evidence of what you can do. Skills, talents, and degrees are important but showcasing what you have done in the past and continue building more is an astounding way of being noticed.
Here are some ways that perhaps can help you build evidence:
Go beyond job qualifications – Most job postings have a “qualifications” section. If possible, showcase your achievements, accomplishments, and what you can do for the company that go above and beyond the qualifications.
Make sure to have a clear understanding of their problems – If there is a job opening, then there is a problem that needs to be solved. Recruiters don’t just need some engineers or technologists, they need to bring in people that will improve metrics and increase innovation. The more you understand what their needs are and what they are looking for, the more you should tailor-fit what you share with them. Make sure to do your research!
Grab opportunities to learn and grow – One way of building evidence is to also add more evidence by doing projects and extra work when you can. Take whatever opportunity that comes to you to learn new skills or new experiences. Go get it! Never waste those precious opportunities.
