Our mindsets are the powerful lenses or filters through which we see ourselves and the world around us. Mindsets determine how we interpret interactions, experiences, and relationships. Our mindsets, therefore, have massive impact that can either affect our lives positively or negatively. We can change some of these lenses or even update the “prescriptions” to help us see more clearly and improve our results over time.
In many situations, there are instances that we are projecting, assuming, and thinking our way of viewing a situation is the “right” one, even when this might not be the case. Even if we are correct, not considering the view of others can have negative effects. Opening ourselves to simply doubting our own strongly-held belief and seeking to understand the view of another can create opportunities to change the way we think in more helpful ways.
There are opportunities each day to change for the better, ways we can take ownership and be proactive in our lives, and take action to achieving goals we want to accomplish. Becoming aware of and adjusting mindsets and what we believe in is at the core of making meaningful and lasting changes, which is why it is often the first thing that I address with everyone that I work with.
Consider where your mindsets are at right now. Are they positive or mostly negative? The first step to mindset development is mindset awareness.
Then, once you become aware of your thought patterns, you can take intentional steps to change them.
