Unhappy at Work? Here’s What To Do Next

“If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, liberates your energy, and inspires your hopes.” – Andrew Carnegie

Every week, as we work in a company or organization, it fills much of our time as we take care of the tasks and responsibilities we have been employed to perform. There will be instances that we have to sacrifice our personal time to just meet a specific goal or to complete a project.

If this encroachment of time continues, we may start feeling burnout or unhappiness. Or, perhaps, other cultural or emotional struggles at work may cause us to dread going to work each day.

If you’ve ever experienced this, you know how hard it is to drag yourself to work when you reach that point of unhappiness. Don’t lose hope! We can counter that by identifying ways to empower ourselves.

Here are a few suggestions that can help you take charge of the situation:

  1. Think of ways how you can do your work differently
  2. Focus on situations that you can control
  3. Seek change in your daily routine
  4. Take charge of your life

One key here is to do introspection where we examine our life and see what changes should be made in order to move forward driven by a deeper purpose rather than just letting life happen to us.

Be proactive, not reactive. Don’t lose hope – take action, and make changes.
